Blog? What blog?

I really haven't forgotten I have a blog that four or five people find entertaining. However, I am finding it extremely difficult to find time to sit down and go go through pictures and post! So here it is, 9:45 at night and 5:30 comes early so this will be a quick catch-up.

Spring arrived in Nevada and that meant one thing: cleaning! Cleaning of the garage led to the discovery of Kilee's pink cowgirl hat, quickly confiscated by McKay who wore it while we cleaned out flower beds to get them read for spring planting.

We managed to celebrate Kilee's birthday early (two months early!) because summer birthday parties are hard for this mom to manage, especially this year. So we had a great group of kids over to celebrate Kilee's 7th birthday and Cinco de Mayo. We made sombrero cookies and broke a pinata and had a great time! Zane saved his cookie and took it home!

Tanner's birthday really is in May and we celebrated his nearly on time! I couldn't ask for a better group of kids for Tanner to call his friends. We went bowling and had pizza, cake, and ice cream. I have to comment on how well these boys know Tanner because the gifts were incredibly thoughtful. TJ gave him books on baseball (TJ's mom is Tanner's teacher this year so I think she may have influenced the choice for books, but TJ won out on the subject matter). Layne, without any help at all, selected art supplies because he knew how much Tanner loves to draw. I should have gotten a picture of Layne waiting for Tanner to open that present because Layne was more excited than Tanner.

We had a visit from Nana and Papa. They came on a COLD weekend and watched Kilee in a soccer match and Tanner in a baseball game. Not sure what I was doing with my camera that weekend (or NOT doing, as the case may be), because the only photos I have are of Papa reading to McKay and the kids playing with their carrot cake.

I've spent considerable time making various carrot cake recipes this spring, too. The kids are enjoying the experiments. I think I've found a keeper, so I'll be posting that recipe someday soon. As for this picture, it is Tanner trying to see if I'll notice if he shoves the entire piece in his mouth. Yes, I noticed.

The there was the Sunday afternoon that McKay decided to use his face as a landing strip. Monday morning found us looking at a BIG fat lip. The first fat lip for this family. It was hilarious and sad all at the same time.

Because four kids, graduation, sports, music, and school events weren't enough, we decided to to add this to our to do list:

Anybody want to buy a house? Randy started a new job with the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections on April 27th and as soon as the house sells, we'll be relocating to Idaho. For now, Randy is living with his parents and commuting the 45 miles to work. He has a fancy title - Education Program Manager - but in public education-ese it means the same thing as principal. There are benefits to this job: No parents to contend with and no disciplining the students (they have correctional officers for that). We're excited about this change and for the challenge and growth Randy will get in this position.

Still to come: Graduation blog!
